Mohammed Hashim reinvents Islam by accepting multiple gender identities

Mohammed Hashim reinvents Islam by accepting multiple gender identities

Mohammed Hashim is “a labour and human rights advocate working as the Senior Organizer for the Toronto and York Region Labour Council” and “a Founding Advisor of Progress Toronto.” According to his bio on progresstoronto.ca Mohammed Hashim “advocates on issues related to workers’ rights at the municipal level and is a leader on the promotion of equity issues and tackling Islamophobia.”

On January 2nd, 2019 Mohammed Hashim publicly criticized the Islamic Party of Ontario led by Jawed Anwar and specifically its goal to implement the sharia Islamic law and his “homophobic” platform. Hashim wrote (Facebook):

“Equally nutters is this Javed Anwer [sic] guy creating an Islamic Party of Ontario. He’s a Doug Ford [Ontario Premier] supporter! and to call someone an ‘enemy of Islam’?? Who made you God? But beyond that, I don’t know where he gets this idea that implementing sharia law on everyone is a good idea. It’s a mostly secular democratic system buddy, that strives for universal human rights. His platform is homophobic, misogynistic and surely does not represent my Islam.”

The Islamic Party of Ontario’s platform on LGBTQ issues reads:

“Allah has created two genders: men and women. Any physical defect in any organ of a person doesn’t change one’s gender identification and sexual orientation. All the communities of all the faiths believe in it; modern science proves it. The concept of “gender identity” is a false concept.”

Based only on Canadian authentic sources I’ve learned that the Islamic Party of Ontario’s position on LGBTQ reflects the true teaching of Islam. Allah said in the holy Koran (Surah Al-Hujjurat 49:13) “O mankind, indeed We have created you from male and female and made you peoples and tribes that you may know one another.” There is a consensus among the senior Canadian Muslim scholars that liberal concept of gender identity is foreign to Islam. My thorough search failed to find any respected Canadian scholars who support you position on LGBTQ.

Media Inquiry

Can you please provide the Islamic sources that led you to unequivocally reject the aforementioned Islamic Party of Ontario’s platform on LGBTQ while stating “[it] surely does not represent my Islam”?

Does your reformed version of Islam recognize liberal concept of gender identity and the existence of multiple genders in contradiction to Allah’s holy Koran, Prophet Mohammad’s (pbuh), the sahaba and the teachings of the great scholars of Islam?

What are your qualifications in Islamic studies? Are they sufficient to challenge the great scholars of Islam and the consensus among the senior Muslim scholars in Canada?

An article on this issue will be published by the end of the week. A response by 11am Wednesday will be much appreciated.

Sincerely,

Eric Stanley Brazau,

As of March 27, 2020 Mohammed Hashim has not responded to the media inquiry. A short time after the media inquiry was sent, Mohammed Hashim removed all public posts from his Facebook page.

Canadian Imam explains Islamic ruling on oral sex

Canadian Imam explains Islamic ruling on oral sex

Shaykh Yūsuf Badāt, Toronto based scholar, teacher and Imam and a member of the Canadian Council of Imams, says oral sex is prohibited in Islam if sexual fluids entered into the mouth and or swallowed.

Answering the question “Is oral sex allowed in Islam? Can a woman or man kiss or suck each other’s private parts?” Shaykh Yūsuf Badāt wrote:

Jazāk Allāh Khayr/ Thank you for your question.

Oral sex refers to sexual contact between the mouth and the genitals or anus.

If oral sex (performed by a husband and wife) entails sexual fluids, discharge and impurities to be released, entered into the mouth and or swallowed (which is more than likely to occur), then it is prohibited and impermissible. This is the ruling that all mainstream Islamic jurists agree to, even in the case where one is unsure, however there is a likelihood of such fluids to be entered in to the mouth.

Islam is a religion that demands purity and cleanliness in all aspects of life.

If one engages in oral sex in such a way wherein there is no sexual fluids and impurities on the tongue or in the mouth, then it would be considered mukrūh (disliked). (See Fātāwā al Hindīyyah)

And Allāh Knows Best

Another fatwa (Islamic ruling) on islamweb.net provides more background information about the position of Islam on oral sex:

As for what you mentioned, i.e. sucking, licking or oral sex, there is no clear evidence from the Quran or the Sunnah concerning them. The scholars differed on this matter. Some believe that it is forbidden, others believe that it is lawful. However, Allah Says (what means): {Your wives are a place of cultivation [i.e. sowing of seed] for you, so come to your place of cultivation however you wish.} [Quran 2:222]. This means in any manner that suits you both but in the place of the cultivation which is the vagina. It does not mean anywhere and anyhow. There is a trace from the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) and his companions that backs up this view. One should be cautious not to swallow some dirtiness, as the man might ejaculate in his wife’s mouth. Allah Says (what means): {Truly Allah loves those who turn unto Him in repentance and those who purify themselves.} [Quran 2:222]. This means those who keep themselves above the dirty and the filthy things, which are the cause of forbidding the menstruation period and any part which is not the vagina. This kind of pleasure is far from the natural dispositions that Allah has created us with. Moreover, a tongue that supplicates Allah and recites the Quran should not get in touch with those parts of the body which are a source of some impurity. Indeed what Allah has made lawful for us is enough for any normal person.

Jewish NDP MPP Rima Berns-McGown: “I embraced Islam; but I am still Jewish”

Rima Berns-McGown, a Jewish Member of the Ontario Provincial Parliament for Beaches-East York on behalf the New Democratic Party (NDP), has revealed she embraced Islam.

In a post on Facebook Berns-McGown wrote (December 14, 2019):

“Yes, I also embraced Islam a few years ago, for many reasons that I don’t have the time or space to detail here, but I of course am still Jewish — sorry not sorry if that confuses you 🤷 and especially where it comes to Israel I speak as a Jew.”

Islamic schools refuse comment on allegation regarding not commemorating Remembrance Day

Islamic schools refuse comment on allegation regarding not commemorating Remembrance Day

I’ve sent a media inquiry to Islamic schools in Ontario and Alberta asking to respond to an statement made by a senior Muslim imam and scholar from London, Ontario that reads: “Islamic schools won’t have it [Remembrance Day] as a holiday because we don’t celebrate it.” As of November 23, 2019 none of the Islamic schools responded to the media inquiry.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Mazin AbdulAdhim, a prominent Muslim scholar and Imam from London, Ont. has stated that “Islamic schools won’t have it [Remembrance Day] as a holiday because we don’t celebrate it.”

He further explained that “it is a day to remember those who died while fighting and killing Muslims… it’s because it is a day to remember those who died while fighting and killing Muslims… The Ottomans were Muslims, and Remembrance Day first started after Britain and France and the others defeated us, killed millions of our people, and then made this celebration starting on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, November 11th, to forever remember *their* soldiers who fought to defeat us in that war and then invade our lands. That is why we don’t celebrate Remembrance Day, because we would be remembering their soldiers who killed millions of Muslims.”

Scantily clad woman “wants attention and possibly much more” – Toronto Islamic booth

Scantily clad woman “wants attention and possibly much more” – Toronto Islamic booth

On October 28, 2019 I sent a media inquiry to the Walk-In Islamic InfoCenter asking for an explanation why Muslim Dawah (Islamic propagation) activists hand out Islamic literature that contains controversial content regarding women. A day later I left a courtesy message on Walk-In Islamic InfoCenter’s answering machine extending the deadline. At the time of publishing of this article I have not yet received a reply.

Media Inquiry to the Walk-In Islamic InfoCenter

Mohammed Obaidullah, Volunteer President, Walk-In Islamic InfoCenter

Owais Rafi, Vice President, Walk-In Islamic InfoCenter
info@collectfreequran.org

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Copies of the book “Islam Balancing Life And Beyond” by Suhail Kapoor are being handed out for years by activists of the Islamic booth at the corner of Yonge and Dundas (Dundas Square) in Toronto.

Quotes from the book, a project of Islamic Propagation Center in Mississauga, Ontario:

Page 53

Mixed gatherings offer opportunities where base desires are unleashed, and once allowed free reign, have the potential to even destroy families. Are the results of promiscuity not in front of us? The illegitimate and abandoned children, broken homes, adultery, abortions, divorces and sexual diseases and more. Relationship out of wedlock is known as ‘fornication’, punishable by Islamic Law in an Islamic state. It is in the larger interest of our society that Islamic high moral standards are advocated and enforced.”

Page 46

“…because of the apparent restriction on Muslim women to remain away from the public realm, many Westerners see the Muslim hijab as a symbol of female oppression. However, on the contrary as per those women, especially Westerners who embraced Islam, the hijab is instead a symbol of ‘liberation’. The Islamic tradition of hijab frees women from being perceived primarily as sexual objects.”

Page 48

“Human beings are conditioned by the society in which they live. Naturally when you see a woman scantily dressed and revealing her physical features, versus when you see a woman modestly dressed, covering her head, not revealing any of her physical features, impressions that will come to mind do not need mentioning. Needless to say, dress represents her modesty, and through it she commands the respect in the society. Whereas when a woman chooses to show her body in one form or another, the message is only one: she wants attention and possibly much more.”

Page 50

Islam puts an upper limit of four wives and gives a man permission to marry two, three or four women, only on the condition that he deals justly with them, which, if not impossible, is certainly extremely difficult. Knowing well of our shortcomings, Allah in His infinite wisdom says later in the same chapter: “You will not be able to do justice between your wives however much you wish (to do so).” (Qur’an 4:128-130) This verse serves as a deterrent of fear of Allah and as such, less than 2% men in the Muslim world exercise this option. Therefore polygamy is not a rule but an exception. Many people labour under the misconception that it is an open-ended verdict for a Muslim man to have more than one wife. This is absolutely not true.”

Page 51

The system of polygamy according to Islamic Law is a moral and human one. It is moral because it does not allow man to have intercourse with any woman he wishes, at any time he likes. He is not allowed to have intercourse with more than three women in addition to his (first) wife, and he cannot do that secretly, but must proceed with a contract and announce it, even if among a limited audience. To attain full legitimacy it must be registered with the law.”

QUESTIONS

Do activists with the Walk-In Islamic InfoCenter hand out for free at Dundas Square or elsewhere copies of the book “Islam Balancing Life And Beyond” by Suhail Kapoor?

The book states: “Relationship out of wedlock is known as ‘fornication’, punishable by Islamic Law in an Islamic state.” The Islamic Law prescribes a punishment of flogging for the unmarried and stoning to death to the married. Does the Walk-In Islamic InfoCenter agree with stoning fornicators to death in the Islamic State?

Does the Walk-In Islamic InfoCenter agree with the messages of the book regarding women including the statement “when a woman chooses to show her body in one form or another, the message is only one: she wants attention and possibly much more”?

Does the book “Islam Balancing Life And Beyond” by Suhail Kapoor reflect in whole or in part the true teachings of Islam as being taught by your Dawah organization?

I’ll appreciate a response by 4 pm October 28, 2019. If you require more time please let me know.

Sincerely,
