Shari’a Law Close Reality for Some Canadian Women 2003 Child Custody

Shari’a Law Close Reality for Some Canadian Women 2003 Child Custody

Below is a transcript of part of a lecture given by Canadian Imam Aasim Rashid made in 2003 regarding the near successful attempt to begin introducing Shari’a law; first with all Family matters.

The Canadian government wanted people like myself to sign off on custody cases.  Where there was an allegation of parental abduction to verify if the parent who has taken the child off to that country – are they Islamically authorized to do so or not. Because there are many Muslim countries that would need to see that from a Muslim scholar.

Imam Karim Abu Zaid who has lectured in Toronto and other Canadian cities uploaded a lecture – Can they force me to wear Hijab? (Taliban in Afghanistan) on Aug 27, 2021. Below is a partial transcript.

When somebody who is learned who knows how to read the Quran tells you that a hijab is not in the Quran, in the Sunnah, there is something wrong with your mind. Whether you’re a twisted minded person or you really do not know how to read, but hijab is an element of this religion… Hijab is in the revelation. Hijab is part of this religion. We may debate the concept here… Hijab by the way means a screen, means a veil… The consensus of scholars that the hijab in Islam is to cover the entire body except the face and the two palms… But there is a place in the Sharia regarding what we call nikab. In Afghanistan it is called the burka. Covering of the entire face except for the two eyes. There are scholars who say it’s mandatory

Some Canadian leaders tell the Canadian population that, the action of the Taliban does not reflect the teachings of Islam. However some senior Imams seem to agree with many of the policies implemented by the Taliban.

Karim AbuZaid speak at some length on the Taliban policy concerning concerning women. Below is a partial transcript of Imam AbuZaid’s statement uploaded on August 21 0f 2021

Is the hijab an element of Islam? Yes it is. Hijab is mandatory upon every women who attains the age of puberty.

Hijab in Islam is the covering of the entire body except the face and the hands.

The bourka or niqab which is the covering of the face except the eyes this is a recommended not mandatory.

If a Muslim who loves Allah sees a sister…. When a sister does not wear the hijab she is committing a major sin… If she is my daughter I could use, lawful, legal means to force my daughter to wear her hijab, provided I am not violating the laws of the land.

Now the laws of Taliban – the laws of the Sharia – of Islam that’s what they want to implement in their country. So what is wrong with that? Why don’t you not place this on the same level, equal to Macron forcing women not to wear their hijab under the notion of keeping the custom and the principles of the Republic?

Listen the hijab is an element of Islam. Muslims you should love for the Sharia of Allah to be established through…Taliban happened to be the ruling authority in Afghanistan. Don’t they have the right to at least show their women the Islamic dress code?

Not Like Taliban. Canadian Imam Allows Women Freedom to Exit the House

Not Like Taliban. Canadian Imam Allows Women Freedom to Exit the House

Unlike in Afghanistan Canadian Imam Aasim Rashid has given Muslim men permission to give their females permission to leave the house to complete necessary errands. Imam Rashid has also given restricted permission to not cover the face and hands.

The following is from a interview

Next level of hijab is a woman needs to leave the house. That’s going to happen. She has needs. It could be a worldly need going to buy something a religious need like going to the mosque. How should she come out? That brings us to the next level of hijab. When she comes out she should conceal herself entirely. Her whole body except for her face and her hands must be covered. The face is not something that must always be covered.

In conclusion we learn that the Islam practiced by the Taliban can seem to be similar to the teachings of Canadian Imams however some will conclude there can seemingly be differences.
