Toronto Islamophobia Hoax Hijab Fraud Confusion

January 2018 female Muslim Student Khawlah Norman reported she was the victim of a hate crime.

This story garnered international media attention.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau spoke about this hate crime hours after it was reported. He did not speak of it as an alleged crime.

My heart goes out to the young girl who was attacked seemingly for her religion. I can’t imagine how afraid she must have been. I want her and her family, friends and community, to know this is not who Canadians are. Outpouring of support that I know she’s getting: statements from the mayor and the premier and now from me – really need to emphasize
