Texas Imam: France is blatantly Islamophobic & Xenophobic. Muslims say Enough is Enough

In the weeks prior to Nov 2, 2020, France has been stricken with two jihadist attacks. French teacher Samuel Paty was beheaded and 3 people in a church were killed, including an elderly woman who was decapitated. American Imam Yasir Qadhi, a world renowned Islamic leader, is responding to the backlash.

Interview with ‘The Thinking Muslim’ Podcast: Difficult Questions About the Situation in France  Premiered Nov 2, 2020

The following description is from Imam Yasir Qadhi’s youtube channel:

Shaykh Dr. Yasir Qadhi speaks about the French Policy towards Muslims, the potential for the ‘French model’ to be exported to other countries where Muslims are a minority. He also touches on the Islamic justifications for violence, how we should defend the honour of the Messenger of Allah. (SAW) Below is an excerpt of the lecture.

“Again I reiterate our loyalties are to our creator not to our nation state. As for France, I’ve only been three times, I think. I agree with you. And of course I have met many French Muslims. I agree with you the xenophobia, Islamophobia, I really don’t know of any other Western country in the world that is more blatantly Islamophobic than France. I do not know of any other country. Now that is frightening because France has the highest percentage of Muslims of any – the entire Western world. Those two facts together do not bode well for the future. That’s all I will say – do not bode well. If you study history, and the exacerbations going on, tit for tat, at what point do the Muslims say enough is enough?” Video Excerpt

Shaykh Yasir Qadhi is a Pakistani-American Islamic scholar, theologian and preacher. Since 2001, he has served as Dean of Academic Affairs at the Al-Maghrib Institute, an international Islamic educational institution with a center in Houston, Texas. He also taught in the Religious Studies department at Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee. He is currently the resident scholar of the East Plano Islamic Center in Plano, Texas.

Qadhi has written numerous books and lectured widely on Islam and contemporary Muslim issues. A 2011 The New York Times Magazine essay by Andea Elliott described Qadhi as “one of the most influential conservative clerics in American Islam.

Qadhi was previously affiliated with the Salafi movement but has since left the movement and now identifies as a Sunni.

The following are excerpts from Islam Q&A academic, educational and da‘wah website supervised by Shaykh Muhammad Saalih al-Munajjid, dealing with the topic of execution for insult or blasphemy.

Defaming the Prophet PBUH is a kind of kufr. If that is done by a Muslim then it is apostasy on his part, and the authorities have to defend the cause of Allaah and His Messenger (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) by executing the one who defamed him.

If a Muslim hears a Christian or anyone else defaming the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) he has to denounce him in strong terms. It is permissible to insult that person because he is the one who started it. How can we not stand up the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him)? It is also obligatory to report him to the authorities who can carry out the punishment on him. If there is no one who can carry out the hadd punishment of Allaah and stand up for the Messenger (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) then the Muslim has to do whatever he can.

That is because there is no room for compromise with regard to the rights of Allaah but there is room for compromise when it comes to the rights of human beings.

from al-Adaab al-Shar’iyyah (1/237-238)

The ruling of execution because of a word that somebody utters is what the Muslim scholars call al-riddah (apostasy). What is apostasy and what constitutes apostasy? What is the ruling on the apostate (al-murtadd)?

Muslims Face Hardship Navigating Intersectionality Between Shari’a & Democracy

Texas Imam, Yale PhD scholar Yasir Qadhi: What is the Ruling on Blasphmy? Lecture premiered Nov 3, 2020. The beading of French teacher Samuel Paty happened days prior to this lecture. Below in an excerpt

“The fourth question Muslim minorities, us, in America, in England, in France, in Canada, in Australia, in Germany and across the European and Western worlds. We are living in secular democracies. We are living as a minority and we all understand that the laws of the land are based on sources that are not our sources. So what is the responsibility of Muslims living in Western lands vis-a-vis the laws found in the classical books and the rulings pertaining to any type of judgment that is of a penal nature ie: criminal law that are found in the Shari’a?” Complete video

Muslim scholars teach that implementing Islamic Law is a moral duty of Believing Muslim. Bilal Philips in Australia.

In 2017 the European Court heard a case where sharia law was applied to a disagreement between citizens of Greece who are Muslims.

Christian Concern (CC), a non-profit organization based in London, intervened in the case, “because of the importance of the case in European law and its implications for countries across Europe, including the UK,” according to a press statement by CC.

According to Dieppe, an estimated 85 sharia courts operate in the UK. “The use of Sharia has led to the promotion of parallel societies within the United Kingdom,”

Throughout Europe there are Shari’a law tribunals. Some experts will say “While there are undoubtedly lots of different councils and tribunals dealing with Shari’a principles, they aren’t courts of law. Most are Shari’a ‘councils’ set up to make decisions on purely religious matters, although there are some bodies that mix Shari’a principles with legally binding arbitration. But none can overrule the regular courts. However civilly undocumented marriages are performed when a second wife is taken.

The following are excerpt from Islam Q&A academic, educational and da‘wah website supervised by Shaykh Muhammad Saalih al-Munajjid, dealing with the topic of Muslims dealing with non-Islamic laws.

The statement that whoever does not judge according to what Allaah revealed is a kaafir, a zaalim (oppressor or wrongdoer) and a faasiq (sinner), as Allaah says: “. . . And whoever does not judge by what Allaah has revealed, such are the kaafiroon.” [aayah 44]; “. . . And whoever does not judge by that which Allaah has revealed, such are the zaalimoon (polytheists and wrongdoers)” [aayah 45]; “. . . And whoever does not judge by what Allaah has revealed (then) such (people) are the faasiqoon (rebellious or disobedient).” [aayah 47].

Referring for judgment to courts of man-made law which is contrary to sharee’ah is not permissible; the same applies to working in them and applying those laws among people.

The scholars of the Standing Committee for Issuing Fatwas were asked: What is the ruling on referring for judgment to American law in a dispute between Muslims, with regard to cases of divorce, commerce and other matters?

They replied: It is not permissible for a Muslim to refer for judgment to man-made laws.

World Famous Imam, Yale PhD Scholar: Beheading & Rampaging more Con than Pro

France in the last several days, prior to Nov 4, 2020, was struck with two jihadist attacks. First the French teacher Samuel Paty was beheaded for showing cartoons in a discussion about free speech, second three people in a church were killed, including an elderly woman who was decapitated.

Imam & Yale PhD scholar, Yasir Qadhi gave a lecture; The Islamic Ruling on Blasphemy (And Its Application In the Modern World). This lecture was uploaded on Nov 4, 2020. In this lecture he explains that wanton killing or rampaging is detrimental to the overall well-being of the Muslim community, even though it can be justified in Islamic doctrine. Imam Qadhi further explains that a minority Muslim community must not react as though it were in a majority.

The key point here he did not stand up and kill these people. He did not stand up and spit in their face. He did not take the sword out and do anything even though they are saying things about the Prophet PBUH…. There are another number of instances he becomes murtard [apostate] in Abyssinia. Nobody does anything to him. Obviously he says things that are un-Islamic. Nobody did anything to him because they’re in a minority situation. So from a technical perspective it is very clear. From an overall maslih and mafasid, you weigh the pros and the cons, the cost benefit analysis. It is self-evident, dear Muslims. If a Muslim goes and does this thing – goes on a rampage – what do you expect if this continues over and over and over again? There are millions, tens of millions, of Muslims living in these Western lands. What do you expect the governments are going to do? What is going to be the reaction?  Would you blame them if they kept on making our lives more difficult?… Have you ever thought to – rather than kill someone, to teach somebody about the Prophet PBUH? Rather than enact something that might be found in the books of fique [Jurisprudence]. I’m not denying that they are there… Who are you to do something that will bring about a greater harm to the ummah?  Is your love for the Prophet PBUH only manifest in your hating everybody else? Yes, sometimes punishment needs to be shownThis type of wanton bloodshed, this type of perverted vigilante justice, it does far more damage to the honor of Prophet PBUH then those cartoons could possibly do. Quraan: The Quraan says (interpretation of the meaning): The recompense of those who wage war against Allaah and His Messenger and do mischief in the land is only that they shall be killed or crucified or their hands and feet be cut off on the opposite sides.

This punishment is part of the Islamic shareeah which Allaah has prescribed for every time and place, not just for one particular country or period. Further reading

Capital punishment applies in the case of a person who meets any of the following conditions:

1 – The apostate. The apostate is one who disbelieves after being a Muslim, because the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Whoever changes his religion, execute him.” Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 6524.

2 – The married adulterer. The punishment in this case is to be stoned to death.

Muslim Riots Limit speech. The Ummah will not tolerate free speech that they deem insulting to Islam. Because of this Justin Trudeau is Limiting Free Expression to Promote Social Harmony & Public Safety

Muslim migrant beheading of French Teacher Samuel Paty on Oct. 16, 2020. prompted prime minister of Canada Justin to hold a press conference on Friday Oct. 30, 2020.

Justin Trudeau: Muslim Riots Limit speech

“In a free society we will always defend it. But freedom of expression is not unlimited. For example, we do not allow people to cry fire in a packed cinema. In a respectful society such as ours everyone must be aware of the impact of our words and actions on others. There are communities experiencing huge discrimination in Canada today.  Yes we will defend freedom of expression. But everyone must act respectfully towards others. Not try to needlessly or arbitrarily hurt someone we share this planet and society with.”

Follow-up question

So, if I understand, you do not think that people should make fun of religion or religious figures. That’s what I understood when you gave your example of the packed cinema. Terrorists are using this as justification for violence.

Answer

I believe that in a society such as ours we should always strive to be respectful and not to insult anyone else. It’s a matter of respect. It’s a matter of not trying to dehumanize or deliberately hurt someone else. I think this is an extremely important debate to have regarding for example possible exceptions. But often the intention is less important because the action is still hurtful. So our society is based on respecting others and listening and learning. So we should have this discussion in a respectful way. Video

The OIC Organization of Islamic Cooperation has for decades been lobbying the United Nation to curtail free speech. Western leaders see this as a reasonable compromise to curtail the rioting of the Muslim population. As the percentage of the Muslim population increases greater will be the necessity for prudence.

What needs to happen for the concept of free speech to be recognized as dead?

Colorado Imam: You are in Crisis Macron Not Islam. Islam is Growing

October 2 French president Emanuel Macron  unveiled a plan to defend France’s secular values against what he termed as “Islamist radicalism”, saying the religion was “in crisis” all over the world, prompting a backlash from Muslim activists. Macron insisted “no concessions” would be made in a new drive to push religion out of education and the public sector in France.

Who is in crisis? Islam or Macron? | Friday Khutbah Replay | Imam Karim AbuZaid. Streamed live on Oct 10, 2020

Because it is the will of Allah. Allah knew in his Divine wisdom that there will be a messenger who will come to rectify the situation. But sorry, Mr. Macron, this is not the case with Islam. …1.8 now. 1.8 billion Muslims, that’s the crisis that Emmanuel is feeling. In spite of this, but Islam is spreading like fire spreads in a dry wood. His own people are accepting Islam. One out of ten in France are Muslim. Can you imagine that? One out of ten are Muslims. So where is the crisis Mr. Macron? The people are liking the whole religion? What is wrong with you? Oh, you’re afraid because they say in less than 50 years, in the year 2050 Islam will pass Christianity.

Is that why? That is the real crisis… This religion will reach as far as the daylight and the night – the darkness of the night – reaches, basically every place in the face of this Earth. And it will enter every single home. Then there will be a prophet kinship and that’s the one Macron and all his like, the English and all of those, place in the Muslim world – place in the Muslim  world. Can you just allow the Muslim world to run your own thing? Election, democracy, run it and you’ll see who will win…  Brothers and sisters in Islam, it’s so great to feel good, to feel confidence, about your religion…

We have actually a long-term plan beyond your life and the life of your kids. But the question that I ask myself and my brothers who are listening to this sermon, what are you going to do?…  How do they feel when they heard this guy saying this about Islam? How did they feel? Did your son come and say what’s this guy saying about my religion? Ha!! That’s right there where we can make a change. But it’s going to take time. Now we have to contribute to this. Look at your child. And if you don’t have one, look at a Muslim child. And that’s why we have schools. I tell you if there is a project out there that is of benefit to the Muslim ummah, [it’s] Islamic schools

Private Islamic schools in Canada Guide

Islamic schools instill in students traditional Islamic values—the values codified in the Quran. These values include honour, trust, honesty, and justice. Students are also taught proper manners, including how to conduct oneself, and how to act towards one’s neighbours, as indicated by Islamic law.

Islamic identity: There’s lots of focus on helping students build and cultivate their Islamic identity. Students learn about Islamic traditions and beliefs. This can help students understand their religion and heritage.

NDP’s Jagmeet Singh declines to comment on killing Islamic State leader

On October 28, 2019 I sent a media inquiry to Jagmeet Singh the leader of the New Democratic Party (NDP) asking why he hasn’t published any statement on the killing of the leader of the Islamic State. Singh didn’t respond to the media inquiry.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

On October 26, 2019 Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the leader of the Islamic State (ISIS, Daesh, Caliphate) was killed by American special forces in the area of Idlib in northern Syria.

ISIS under the leadership of Baghdadi established an Islamic state and proceeded to commit crimes against humanity as defined by the UN. These crimes include but are not limited to: genocide, ethnic cleansing, targeted systematic rape, torture and beheading.

Hundreds of Canadians left to support and participate with ISIS in establishing the Caliphate – Islamic State and taking part in war crimes. Terrorist attacks inspired by the Islamic State targeted Canadian nationals in Canada and abroad. Eighty of these ISIS fighters have returned to live in Canada.

Canada is a member in the international coalition tasked with defeating ISIS, including through the Global Coalition, Operation IMPACT and the NATO training mission in Iraq.

Both Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Andrew Scheer, leader of the Conservative Party, issued statements supporting the elimination of the leader of the Islamic State. Jagmeet Singh, the leader of the New Democratic Party (NDP) has not issued any statement.

QUESTIONS

Why have you not made any public statement regarding the killing of the leader of the Islamic State that orchestrated with the help of Canadian nationals genocide, ethnic cleansing, systematic rape, torture and beheading?

If you have made a statement could you kindly forward it to me.

I would like a reply by 12 noon on the 29th of October if you need more time let me know.

Thank you
