Several years ago Yasir Qadhi gave a lecture. He told Muslims your loyalty to Islam not America
The believer takes pride not in himself but in the heritage and the Legacy of Islam. We say this loudly and unabashedly.
My only ultimate, unconditional, identity is that of Islam. Everything else it must be in accordance with my primary identity. If there is any clashthen precedence will be given without a doubt to my God.
There is no question, if there is a clash between loyalties there is no clash for me as a Muslim. My ultimate submission is to Allah. I am first and foremost a Muslim. Everything else comes after that.
Dear Muslims, understand your ultimate label is that of Muslim. Everything else is under this term. Hence, your source of dignity and pride will be this Islam. Hence, when somebody mocks or makes fun of it (Islam) far from hiding away own up to it. Do not be embarrassed about your Islam. You need to learn how to defend your faith. Do not be embarrassed to be a Muslim, to pray in public.
Senior Imam Yasir Qadhi uploaded a lecture on May 21,2022, “The Crisis of Marrying Outside the Faith” Muslims Marrying Non-Muslims Forbidden. Senior Imam Abu Ameenah Bilal Philips confirms the prohibition
The following are Excerpts are from Imam Yasir qadhi
I will Begin by stating the obvious and that is that there is no question from a legal Islamic perspective such a marriage is not a marriage there is just no room for reinterpretation. There is unanimous consensus that amongst all the scholars that when it comes to nikah a Muslim lady must marry a Muslim man.
We say unequivocally that any person who wants to come in and to change this law, we say no the Quran is explicit and the Sharia has come with what is called ijima or unanimous consensus.
Muslims marrying outside the faith is forbidden
So may Allah protect our families from ever having to face this crisis. It has been troubling my mind since yesterday the state of mind the most her emotional distress she was in the crisis and the trauma… And by the way these are members of our community practicing Muslims. This girl was brought up in a household that prayed five times a day and fasted Ramadan… So brothers and sisters what can we do to prevent such a situation… Do this by instilling Islamic values in our children raise them to love Allah and his messenger then there are going to be repercussions…
She was asking are these grandchildren going to be my grandchildren and I said “Marham wise yes but Sharia wise no” biologically yes they will be your grandchildren but not from the perspective of the Sharia
In this society fear does not work in this society the stick is not going to work
Females Marrying non-Muslims is Committing Adulatory for which the Penalty is Being Stoned to Death
Islam Q & Acontextualizes the understanding of killing the female that commits adulatory.
“The fornicatress and the fornicator, flog each of them with a hundred stripes. Let not pity (compassion) withhold you in their case, in a punishment prescribed by Allaah, if you believe in Allaah and the Last Day. And let a party of the believers witness their punishment”
It was narrated that Buraydah ibn al-Haseeb said: A woman from Ghaamid, a branch of al-Azd, came and said: “O Messenger of Allaah, purify me!” He said, “Woe to you! Go back and seek the forgiveness of Allaah and repent to Him.” She said: “I think that you intend to send me back as you sent Maa’iz ibn Maalik back.” He said, “What has happened to you?” She said that she had become pregnant as a result of zina. He said: “Is it you (who has done that)?” She said: “Yes.” He said to her: “(You will not be punished) until you give birth to that which is in your womb.” A man from among the Ansaar sponsored her [i.e., paid for her needs etc] until she delivered (the child). Then he (that Ansaari) came to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) and said: “The Ghaamidi woman has given birth to a child.” He (the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him)) said: “Then we will not stone her and so leave her child with no one to nurse him.” One of the Ansaar stood up and said: “O Messenger of Allaah, let me be responsible for ensuring that he is nursed.” Then she was stoned to death.
We find ourselves in a culture that is radically different from the culture from where we come.
This is my fatwa of a Muslim man marrying a Christian or a Jewish lady I think it’s not allowed in this land I think it’s only allowed in a Muslim Nation. this is my fatwa based upon my understanding of the Sharia. Ibin Abbas had the same fatwa that the concession for a Muslim man only applies when the society is Muslim. When the society is non-muslim we don’t have this concession. Therefore we have to tell our young men we are not allowing you to marry outside of our faith. This is the fatwa I give…
Imam Yasir Qadhi on April 13th 2022 uploaded a Ramadan lecture. In 2011 The New York Times Magazine essay by Andrea Elliot described Yasir Qadhi as one of the most influential Imams in America. Below are some excerpts. Muslim Loyalty Islam America
The believer takes pride not in himself but in the heritage and in the Legacy of Allah.
And we say this loudly and unabashedly. My only ultimate unconditional identityis that of Islam. Everything else must be in accordance with my primary identity. If there is any clash then presidents will be given without a doubt to my God. There is no question that if there is a clash between loyalties there is no clash for me. As a Muslim ultimate submission is to one and my God alone. So I am first and foremost a Muslim everything else comes after that.
Dear Muslims understand that your ultimate label is that of Muslim. That is your ultimately. Everything else comes under this term… You have to learn how to defend your faith with wisdom and with the right methodology of preaching and teaching. But do not be embarrassed to be a Muslim and visibly to pray in public when the need arises.
Imam Qadhi had some harsh words for the French people and president Macron after the beheading of French teacher Samuel Paty.
Toronto Greek Town Shooting. June 22 2018 was the third anniversary of this event. How is the Danforth shooting contributing to Canadian society specifically Islamophobia?
Screen capture National Post
The National Telegraph posted on July 27 by John Goddard
“Police suppressed details on Danforth shooter’s trip to Pakistan: entire magazine emptied into prone girl.”Post
Some Canadians believe the Canadian government kept the motives of the shooter secret for political reasons.
However others refer to the fact that the mosque on 4 Thorncliff Park Drive that Faisal Hussain and his family attended, some say on a regular basis, was promoting anti Western, anti-Jewish, anti- Christian sentiments. They point to documentation that congregants in this mosque prayed “Slay them one by one”
Fear of Islam. A Toronto imam was accused of hate-preaching against Jews. But that wasn’t the whole story
By Jennifer YangIdentity and Inequality Reporter Sun., Oct. 22, 2017
O Allah! Count their number; slay them one by one and spare not one of them,” read the article’s translation of his prayers. “O Allah! Purify Al-Aqsa mosque from the filth of the Jews! Article
CBC reported on Feb 22, 2017 that the same supplication/prayer to kill, recited at The Toronto Majid on Dundas, was not officially authorized by mosque’s senior leadership.
On April 27, 2017 Islamic Relief Canada posted on its official Facebook page: “Road To Ramadan: Canada Tour with Sheikh Muhammad Al-Luhaidan”
Alhamdulillah we’re on the road to Ramadan!
Islamic Relief is pleased to welcome, for the first time in Canada, renowned Qari Sheikh Dr. Mohammed Ibrahim Al-Luhaidan.
Join us on a spiritual journey across Quebec and Ontario at your local masjid — as we welcome the month of Ramadan, come out and listen to a melodic recitation of the Holy Quran that will inspire your heart.
It is reported by independent journalists that this Imam led the congregation in a prayer calling for the killing and destruction of Jews. It must be noted that the time, place or method of killing non believers, Christians or Jews was never discussed
Canadian Arabic newspaper has recently published a hadith, accounts of sayings attributed directly to Muhammad, that speaks about Muslims killing Jews as part of the final Islamic fight to establish Sharia law and justice in the entire world.
The same hadith appears in online books on the websites of Canadian Islamic organizations and was recited in sermons and lectures in mosques.
Canadian imams also recite prayers to Allah to annihilate disbelievers, enemies of Islam.
Is it reasonable to infer a connection between violence and Islam?
Islam is not monolithic. There are varied views within the Muslim community’s leadership as to what is the true Islam.
JCPA documented on December of 2018 a sermon in Quebec Mosque:
“Oh Allah, turn their children into orphans and their women into widows.”
The following Canadian Islamic leaders help us understand the context that shapes the core tenet of Islam in Canada, consequently influencing members of the Canadian Muslim community.
Imam Abu Bilal Ameenah Philips
Islam is essentially a moral message. To implement that message it might require weapons. Primary goal of jihad is not to spill blood or acquire people’s land & property. But…
Danforth Shooting could have been his attempt to implement Islamic morality. Was Faisal inspired to kill by Bilal Philips?
Be at war with all people. Once people embrace Islam you stop fighting them… The Quran saying you must stop fighting if they embrace Islam. Hadith saying you must keep fighting themtill they embrace Islam. Not leaving that gray area.
“ISIS manifesto cites Quran, aHadith and rulings of Muslim scholars to justify their position”
To be a hero you are going to have to do things that are extremely unpopular… It is He who sent his messenger with guidance and the religion of truth to manifest it over all religions
There are people (scholars) that take verses in the Quran and their position is it is a point of theology that we (Muslims) have to hate non-Muslims
Conclusion:
Toronto Greek Town Shooting. It is irrational to dismiss the possibility that Islam is a motivating factor in this shooting.
Clapping Hands ruling. Sheikh Yasir Qadhi was tentatively applauded by the audience. The interviewer remarked that Muslims are hesitant to applaud being unsure if it is Sharia compliant. The interviwer asked if if clapping hand is permitted.
It is completely permissible to clap there is no doubt about it, It is permissible to clap because there are methods of expressing approval and the Sharia Islamic law allows these methods of expressing approval. There is nothing inherently wrong or evil with them
Now for context we learn that
Shaikh Muhammad bin Jamil Zeno, a great scholar, author and compiler of many books, of the present time holds the honor of being widely accepted.
Islam Q&A the foremost academic, educational, da‘wah website which aims to offer advice and academic answers based on evidence from religious texts in an adequate and easy-to-understand manner. These answers are supervised by Shaykh Muhammad Saalih al-Munajjid
Is clapping allowed in Islam
Answer
According to the majority of scholars, it is disliked to clap and should be avoided, as it may appear to be an imitation of the disbelievers.
Now we will learn from
Sheikh Ahmad Kutty, a senior lecturer and scholar at the Islamic Institute of Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
Clapping in Salah (for men) or acts of worship is not permitted in Islam since we are not allowed to introduce new ways of worship in Islam. (It’s known that women clap during the prayer if the male Imam makes a mistake.)
If, however, one is resorting to it without any intention of worship, and not as part of worship, but as a way of custom to applaud something or someone, there is nothing in the sources to compel us to declare it as forbidden. It is worth remembering that, as Imam Ibn Taymiyyah said, all customs are permitted so long as the Shari`ah has not clearly forbidden them. Since there is no text to forbid it, it shall be deemed as permissible.
Donald Trump inauguration was very upsetting for Muslim leader Shaikh Yasir Qadhi, a Pakistani American Islamic scholar, theologian and preacher, who has since 2001 served as dean of academic affairs at the Al-Maghrib Institute, an international Islamic educational institution with a center in Houston, Texas. The title of the lecture is Positives in Difficult Times (Donald Trump inauguration) – Dr. Sh. Yasir Qadhi Jan 21 2017. Below is a partial transcript of the lecture. Included on this article is a link to the complete 30 minute lecture.
How many famous people, celebrities, journalists, politicians have come out publicly defending us, criticizing the people who are more powerful than them, how many? So at these times of crisis [Donald Trump] we see who are true allies are. And that is a wisdom and a Hikma [Knowledge together with action.] that we have to grasp and take advantage of. As well, we see the opposite. Just like we see our true allies at times of crisis, we all see – what? – our true enemies. And the worst enemies are whom? The ones who are from within our own ranks. Opportunists who want to sell themselves and their families and their community, who want to betray the very religion that they were brought up in, who want to go against everything that Islam stands for… Sellout traitors who are willing to discard their own community, to claim that the majority of mosques are hotbeds of radicalization. And they know that that is not the case because they grew up in the mosques… And these are the people – we need to know who they are for future reference… Political crisis bring about in us anenthusiasm for activism, a sense of identity. We need to show our Islam. [“ISIS published its manifesto in which it cites verses of the Quran, the Hadith and rulings of Muslim scholars, and citations from tasveer, commentary on the Quran, to justify their position.”] You know at times – and we’ve all heard stories like this – that there are people – you don’t think them to be very pious, very righteous – but something happens, somebody says something about Allah’s Messenger, something negative happens and all of a sudden this person whom you had dismissed, you shouldn’t have, but you had dismissed. O! this guy has no Iman [belief in angels…]. This guy doesn’t pray. This guy drinks. All of a sudden when the pressure rises this person, whom you thought had no iman, turns out he has more iman than you when it comes to fighting against Islamophobes [Activists response in France to blasphemy]. That level of spirit, of activism – we need a struggle and we’re going to face the struggle in the coming years, coming ahead. Each one of us has a role to play as we see in the history of Mecca, early Mecca. [Early Muslim-Meccan Conflict refer to a series of raids in which the Islamic prophet Muhammed and his companions participated. The raids were generally offensive.] Some people financially they freed the slaves. Others are giving da’wah. Others amongst the nobility, teaching and preaching. Others going to… Everybody has a role to play. And we need that sense of spirited community. And yes, a struggle which means a political crisis. So thatwe come together and have a strategy, long-term thinking. What are we going to do? Once again 9/11 was a wakeup call for many of us and now this [Donald Trump] is round two.
